Karnataka Slum Development Board (KSDB) originally established as the Karnataka Slum Clearance Board in July 1975 under the Karnataka Slum Areas (Improvement & Clearance) Act, 1973. Its primary mission is to improve the living conditions of slum dwellers by providing basic amenities, housing, and promoting income-generating activities. In 2010, the board was renamed to Karnataka Slum Development Board to reflect its broader developmental role. KSDB undertakes surveys, slum declarations, and implements various housing and rehabilitation schemes, including in-situ upgrades and beneficiary-led construction models.
